My 16 year old daughter started working with Ryan in February. We as parents and she, as his student, took straight away to his friendly, yet professional approach. She was already taking French and German in school but wanted to take Spanish at A level - so needed to pass GCSE. She was given some help in school, but desperately needed support with speaking and listening in particular. Ryan worked with her once a week for a couple of hours, but was also available by email to offer help.
This week her results came through and she achieved the equivalent of an ‘A’ (7 under the new system). This would have been impossible without Ryan’s help. We are very grateful and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

My son has Aspergers and was struggling with his GCSE Spanish. He was going to be entered for the foundation paper by the school and was predicted to get a 3 / 4 grade. So we got Ryan to give him extra lessons and Sam was entered for the higher paper and got a grade 7 in 2018!

We are a french family who arrived in Hull last September to live here for a year - My daughter Lola joined a local school in year 8 and we had to find her some extra Spanish tuition as she was a complete beginner joining a group who were in their 2nd year of learning Spanish. Ryan had been recommended to us by the school and we are so happy Lola could benefit from his experience. Thanks to Ryan's skills, patience and personalised help, Lola not only caught up the missing knowledge but also happened to get the best mark in her class by the end of the year - She managed to get level 7C when her target was 5B.

My daughter Emily was struggling to keep pace with the fast moving syllabus in Spanish at school and consequently I felt that getting a tutor for her would be a positive way forward. Emily has been working with Ryan for over a year now and I am thoroughly delighted with the progress she has made. The fluency and pronunciation of her conversational skills in Spanish have developed to an impressive level and her confidence to use more varied and complicated vocabulary, conjugations and sentence structures in her writing is clearly evident. She is now regularly attaining 75 - 80% in her school assessments and exams and I feel this indicates how much help and confidence that Ryan has given her.
Ryan is an incredibly supportive tutor and takes great care to understand the particular aspects of study that are needed for Emily to maintain and develop her skills further. Emily was only Year 7 when she started to work with Ryan, but I am so pleased that she started when we did. The work at school has only gained in complexity and without Ryan's knowledge, support and guidance I think she would have become incredibly lost and demoralised with the subject.
There is no doubt that Ryan has a passion for the languages that he teaches and it has even inspired my mum to start having Spanish lessons with him too!
If you are looking for a tutor, you would have to go a long way to find anyone better!

I am so pleased to see my son working hard and pushing himself into achieving more in French. Ryan is a fantastic teacher who always finds ways to motivate my son to give his absolute best! I could not have asked for a more approachable and enthusiastic tutor. As a beginner in Spanish, Ryan makes all his lessons fun and highly engaging. We contacted Ryan at ARK Tutoring Services in January 2017 to help our son prepare for his Spanish and French GCSE exams. We have been very impressed with the service offered to us. Ryan is accommodating, punctual and thorough at all times. He immediately put our son at ease, and has really helped him to re-kindle his enthusiasm for learning languages. Ryan successfully adapted his teaching, offering help in both languages as required, working with Sam on the areas he felt he needed to improve. Last summer I was struggling with my GCSE French, working at a B/C grade and thus asked Ryan to assist me. Despite the short notice, he was happy to help and guided me through the speaking, writing & listening parts of the course. He taught me very efficiently and within a fortnight I was already using structures and vocabulary I would've considered expert prior to Ryan's help. He was very clear and motivating in his lessons and also very prompt to arrive to each lesson on time. Ryan's lessons boosted my confidence and my ability in French and in the end I received an A* grade. I cannot recommend Ryan & Ark Tutoring Services thoroughly enough.

"My wife and I were suddenly and unexpectedly faced with the prospect of making our first ever trip to Spain and had five weeks to prepare for it. Our knowledge of the Spanish language jointly amounted to zero but we felt that it was important to have at least a very basic command of the language for our visit. They say that you are never too old to learn - what they don't tell you is that the process just takes a lot longer as you get older and that is never more true than when learning a new language. For Ryan, teaching us conversational Spanish in the time available was going to be a tough challenge, but he rose to it admirably and thanks to his splendid efforts we learned enough to be able to communicate with barely any need for hand gestures or pointing to words in a phrase book.
